Thanksgiving at Oura Wan Beach

We celebrated Thanksgiving by renting a cabin about 45 minutes away at Oura Wan Beach with our friends Jen & Kyle from Wednesday - Friday. Some of their other friends joined us, and we had an awesome time at the beach, relaxing at the cabin, eating great food and drinking great drinks.  I brought my latte machine so I wouldn't feel quite so left out as the non-pregnant crowd downed their bottles of red wine!

Here is the view from our cabin at the top of Oura Wan.  What you are seeing is actually Oura Wan Bay, which leads out into the Pacific Ocean.  This is what we woke up to every morning and sat out on our patio looking at all day (when we weren't on the beach). Oh, and it was 75 and  sunny every day :)

We hit the beach on Wednesday afternoon as soon as we arrived.  It was beautiful!  Here are some pics of the beach (right down below our cabin) and my boys playing in the sand & water:

Wyatt had such a great time!  We all did, actually. He was totally wiped out that night - no nap and a day at the beach made him crash early!

Thursday was Thanksgiving, of course, and we lounged around and relaxed for quite awhile, taking in the view, the quiet, and the solace.  I drank my latte. We took Wyatt to the park.  We went on a walk. Tommy and Kyle went snorkeling, and the girls cooked dinner.

We each made a few of the traditional Thanksgiving dishes. I made the famous Cink family stuffing and a turkey breast, Chrissy made the green beans, purple potatoes (an Okinawan thing - yum!), and mashed potatoes, and Jen made the desserts - pumpkin roll and apple crisp. It was a great meal and we all shared what we were thankful for.  Here is a picture of us and our dinner:

More friends joined us after dinner, and it was a late night playing card/board games and drinking wine. There may also have been a late-night swim in the ocean instigated by the one on the right.  I was sober and thus, did not participate, but the others had fun :)

Friday we all went to the beach before checkout time at Noon.  The others did yoga on the beach, but since Wyatt wasn't too into that, we had a great time swimming and playing in the sand again before heading back to pack up and check out of the cabin.  We had such a great time - we'll definitely be returning to this place!  We are so thankful for a smooth transition to Okinawa, lots of time spent together as a family this past month, and our wonderful new and old friends on the island who have made this place home for us.

What a wonderful time you had! I really almost cried reading your blog - because you're so happy right now!! It's such a wonderful change from all you had to go thru while Tommy was gone and you were a "single parent" packing and getting ready for the move. And, I'm thankful that you & Jen are able to spend some quality time together that is NOT work related!! Enjoy Megan!!
