New News

Ok, I just realized my initial post about Tommy's MOS said Air Supply Control Officer. I meant Air SUPPORT Control Officer. Those two are not the same thing so I want to be clear. Also, his school is actually 3 months in California instead of 2 1/2. BOO!! From what we can tell (we've been doing some recon) it looks like we have a 50/50 shot of going to either North Carolina or Japan. Yikes! Also, he won't be telling them when to drop the bombs. Just where to go to do it while navigating the aircraft within his region of the air space. Yeesh.

Here's an excerpt from the "official" wording from his position description, not that this helps much.

"Air support officers direct and coordinate air support missions and advise commanders on matters pertaining to the employment and control of air support."

Yes, I know... not very helpful :)

Alright, Girl! I'm on the edge of my seat . . .50/50 chance, huh? Don't worry, if you get Okinawa, you won't have any "growing pains" cuz I've already been through it and I can get you networked with tons of great people. All of my neighbors have kids so they've got all the great information on childcare and preschools. I'll tell you what to bring (my sponsors did NOT give me good advice!) and I'll help you get everything taken care of with the cats. Oh and did I mention we have a guest bedroom? So, if you don't want to stay in TLF when you first get here, you are more than welcome in the Farrell-Mattox Household!

p.s. I hear AUSTRALIA is beautiful in the summer. (date omitted in accordance with OPSEC) :-)

p.p.s It is a balmy 75 degrees and sunny this morning! I'm gazing out my office window and dreaming about a walk to the beach later today.
