He's Baaa-aack!

This is a picture of Tommy & Wyatt on the afternoon we went to see Daddy's ship and to load Tommy's gear onto the boat.  You can see him hauling some of his gear, and you can sort of see the ships up ahead.

Let me just say that this deployment has been an emotional rollercoaster.  I know they all are, and I am by far luckier than most.  But it is so true what they say about Marine Corps spouses - we are certainly Semper Gumby ("always flexible")!

If you've been following this de ployment you know that he left, came back, left again for 6 weeks with a supposed extension, and then we received word our Marines would be home for a brief 24 hours to offload equipment between exercises.  Of course the timeline for those 24 hours changed a million times, but eventually on Friday night I went to pick up our Marine.  I didn't tell the kids about it, because frankly I wasn't entirely sure it would even happen and there were too many changes in the wind.

But he did get here, and actually, he ended up staying here.  He was one of just a handful from his squadron who stayed behind.  It's a long story, but once again it has worked in our favor and I am thankful to have him home for a few extra weeks and for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I sort of feel like I have won the deployment lottery.  In fact, I think the deployment Gods must love me, because as I type this, many of my friends do not have the luxury of saying or even thinking such things while their husbands sail on to their next mission, or dump sand out of their boots from the desert.

We have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. :)

Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket. Happy He's home, helps everyone. Wish ALL deployments were less time for everyone. Have fun..
