Another Dose of Perspective

I apologize (again) for the lack of blogging lately.  Mostly I have been really busy, with a side helping of really exhausted! :)  We are 4 weeks into Tommy's deployment, and the past few days have been a little challenging.  Among other things, Wyatt puked all over the car on the way to soccer practice yesterday morning, so yesterday and today we had to cancel plans and stay home, and the kids have been fighting...fighting...and more fighting.  I am thankful that it seems to have been just a 12-hour bug because he's been fine ever since, so I'll happily send him to preschool tomorrow morning!

I received an email from Tommy's unit a week or two ago saying that they would be extending their time on the ship.  Then the last couple of days had been a little challenging - I won't go into all the details, but I was getting pretty fed up with this deployment business.  And then I saw on Facebook where my former supervisor's son had been hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic for lukemia treatments.

Which promptly put everything into perspective again for me.

Funny how that works, isn't it?

Because what it really all boils down to is that your family is healthy and happy, even if you can't be together right this second.  Even if your lawnmower breaks, and it's 100 degrees outside in the middle of flippin' October, and you are sweating like a pig trying to fix it while your kids are fighting with very sharp grilling instruments playing together nicely.

So I'm going to take a deep breath, separate my kids, try to clean the puke out of my car for the 3rd time, and thank God that my husband is coming home eventually.  Because really, that's all that matters, isn't it?

Aw Megan, sorry about all that. Hope tommy gets home real soon. Hoping things turn around over there - no puking for a few days, grilling instruments are put down and it gets a little cooler!

Your month sounds like mine, only I'm not as upbeat and positive as you - so I am going to try and be like you from today on and stop feeling sorry for my lonely self....plus, there are illegal mexicans mowing my lawn as we speak, LOL.
